Weekend Box Office Results for 5/09/10

9 May

This weekend was always going to be the weekend of Iron Man 2.  Other than the documentary, Babies, there were no other wide releases this weekend.

All of the other top 10 films performed quite poorly, making Iron Man’s numbers appear astronomical.

Box Office Mojo’s Top 10 Box Office Estimates for 5/07-5/09:

1. Iron Man 2 – $133.6 million
2. Nightmare on Elm Street – $9.1 million
3. How to Train Your Dragon – $6.7 million
4. Date Night – $5.3 million
5. The Back-Up Plan – $4.3 million
6. Furry Vengeance – $4 million
7. Clash of the Titans – $2.3 million
8. Death at a Funeral – $2.1 million
9. The Losers – $1.8 million
10. Babies – $1.5 million

It was pretty much a no-brainer who was going to win this weekend lol. I’m still amazed how well How To Train Your Dragon is doing, still bringing in decent money since it came out in March.

I’m interested in seeing how Iron Man holds up with so many new films coming out in the next few weeks. I still haven’t seen …Dragon, but yah, it’s had some major staying power.
